Insurance when lending/renting official cars
Insurance in department cars
- Special rules apply for the use of official cars abroad. Be sure to book the car in good time.
In the event of a motor vehicle accident or other accidents leading to persona injury, it is important for you, as an employee, to know when your employer’s worker’s compensation covers the injury and when you need to use your own insurance. When it comes to coverage of damages in connection with work-related travel, there are two main rules:
- Transportation between home and place of work is considered private transportation. This means that we recommend you to be insured yourself (e.g. through a private full-time accident insurance) when your private address is your beginning or end point.
- Accidents that take place during transportation between various places of work are, as a rule, subject to your employer’s worker’s compensation, as the transportation is part of work and in the employer’s interest. It does not matter if you drive a company car or use your own car.
